How to Get to Vieques
Getting to Vieques, Puerto Rico is easy and can be done by ferry or plane, depending on your schedule and travel style. The Vieques Ferry departs from the Ceiba Ferry Terminal on Puerto Rico’s east coast and takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. This is the most affordable way to reach the island, and advance reservations are highly recommended, especially during weekends and holidays. For a faster and more convenient option, travelers can take a short flight to Vieques from San Juan (SJU or Isla Grande Airport) or Ceiba, with flight times averaging 15 – 25 minutes. Flying offers spectacular aerial views of the Caribbean and is ideal for visitors with limited time.

Ferry schedules are released 1 - 2 months ahead of time. If you don't see it on the website, check back again at a later date.

If tickets are not available to purchase online, plan to arrive to the terminal early, and give yourself more than enough time to purchase tickets at the window. Their policy states you must arrive at least an hour prior to departure time.

Ferries can be delayed or cancelled with very short notice, so plan to take a ferry earlier in the day, if your schedule allows, to ensure you arrive to the island in time for tours or check-ins.

If you are looking for the quickest and most convenient way to get to Vieques, flying on a small puddle-jumper plane is the way to go.

Planes are small and can typically accommodate up to about 10 people, so tickets are usually limited. Plan and purchase your tickets as far in advanced as possible.
