Made up of local experts, licensed captains, and passionate dive professionals, our team brings deep knowledge of Vieques, the ocean, and its wildlife to every experience. More than guides, we’re storytellers, educators, and island locals who love sharing Vieques in a safe, authentic, and unforgettable way.
YORDI SIVERIO
Captain & Dive Expert
Yordi started at Black Beard Sports in 2014 and has been a professional diver since 2012. A PADI Master Instructor and U.S. Coast Guard Master Captain, he brings years of experience both above and below the water. Deeply committed to the youth of Vieques, Yordi is passionate about sharing scuba diving with everyone—believing the ocean should be experienced, respected, and enjoyed by all.
HAILEY METZ
Queen of Fins and Waves
Florida born and raised, Hailey knows the saltwater life inside and out. She brings extensive dive and tour experience to Black Beard Sports as a PADI Divemaster and U.S. Coast Guard–licensed Captain. A true fish ID expert and conservation specialist, Hailey can spot marine life most people swim right past—and loves sharing her passion for protecting Vieques’ underwater world.
Josue Bermudez
Driver/Cat Whisperer/TourGuide
A native of Vieques and a guide with Black Beard Sports since 2010, Josué Bermúdez is the uncontested people’s-choice tour guide and a true expert on the island. His deep local knowledge, storytelling, and genuine love for Vieques take every tour to another level. And if you really want to get him talking—just ask him about his cats.
Eduardo (Willie) Harrison
Plumber/Handyman/Kayak Expert
Originally from "PNW", Willie is Black Beard Sports’ go-to mechanic, plumber, and all-around handyman. But his true expertise—and passion—is kayaking, where he leads our kayak tours with skill and enthusiasm. When he’s not on the water, you’ll probably find him talking football and sharing his love for the game with anyone who’ll listen.
Yadiel (Yadi) Matos
Bio Bay/Snorkel Guide
Yadiel is one of Black Beard Sports’ Bio Bay and snorkeling tour guides. A local from Vieques, he loves spending his time discovering cool places to explore around the island. When he’s not leading a tour, you’ll probably spot him cruising around Vieques on his pimped-out scooter, always ready for the next adventure.
Lane Waller
Bio Bay Guide
Originally from Texas, Lane Waller has been calling Vieques home since 2015. After falling in love with the Bio Bay, he embraced the island life with a super laid-back personality that fits right in. When he’s not guiding tours, Lane is usually surfing—or working on launching his own venture, Hooked on Vieques. Ask him about it!
Jake Waller
Bio Bay Guide
Texas-born with an island heart, Jake Waller is one of Black Beard Sports’ Bio Bay guides. His down-to-earth personality helps every tour flow smoothly and stay relaxed, making guests feel right at home on the water. When Jake isn’t guiding under the stars, you’ll usually find him surfing or fishing alongside his brother.
Elba Belardo
Retail Expert
Elba is our retail expert—if you need snorkel gear, Elba’s got you covered. Known for her great customer service and friendly attitude, she’s always happy to help guests find exactly what they need. When she’s not at the shop, you’ll probably find her cruising around the island, hanging out at the beach, or gaming online.
Carlos (Carlitos) Miro
Captain & Scuba/Freediving Instructor
Carlitos Miró is a scuba and freediving instructor with years of experience, and his laid-back personality instantly puts divers at ease. When he’s not guiding certified divers underwater, Carlitos is usually working on his boat or building his freediving company, always staying connected to life on the water—just don’t get him started on his legendary dad jokes.
Choco
Greeter/Licker
Choco’s official job is greeting everyone who walks through the door—and he takes that role very seriously… until nap time. With his friendly face, wagging tail, and expert people-watching skills, he’s always happy to welcome guests. When he’s not on greeting duty, you’ll usually find him hard at work supervising from the floor, soaking up the island breeze, or sleeping on the job without a single apology.
